The ‘Lifetime’ abuse numbers for those over 15 years of age

child safe metrics May 18, 2022

In 2016, there were 7.2 million Australians who were reported experiencing some form of assaultive behaviour including 3.8 million (42%) men and 3.4 million (37%) women reporting incidents where they had been touched against their will by another individual since the age of 15.

These tragic reports show that physical and sexual violence against young Australians is a significant problem. The government needs to take action, as well as the Australian people in general who are responsible for protecting our children from harm.

The fact that there are so many cases involving children especially calls out for an even greater response than what has already been given which is why more intensive action needs to be taken accordingly as soon as possible.
